O Re Piya

Hello there, you must be wondering what this idiot has to write about "O Re Piya".  Well, don't panic. It's neither about the title song of Atif Aslam nor the famous Jalpari song where, in between, he added a fusion of Azaan notes with these lines.

You must be laughing out loud ( I hope ). If you are wondering how a Chipmunk is singing like this then let me tell you that the original song is by Mr Rahat Fateh Ali Khan from movie Aaja Nachle. If you check out this song , e.g. in mp3 format, it's sampling frequency is 22.05 KHz.  If you playback with a  frequency which is double of that, i.e. 44.1 KHz You will get this kind of funny sound.
Such kind of experiments help grow the Audio domain.
Ever wondered how a robot got its voice ? Well, I would quote following preamble from an interview broadcast at NPR with the beautiful host LYNN NEARY,

" If you've listened to pop music in the past 40 years, you've heard more than a few songs with a robotic sound. You might have even wondered how that effect was created. Well, it didn't happen in a music studio - it all began at the phone company.
Unidentified Man: (Speaking through vocoder) This is the Voice of Power. I make it possible for you to have electric light and radio and television. I am both your servant and your master, so beware of how you use me.
NEARY: That otherworldly voice was recorded in the 1920s by Bell Labs, the research division of AT&T. That strange sound was made by speaking into one of their newest inventions, a vocoder. Originally developed to reduce the cost of long-distance, the vocoder has had many uses over the years."

 For further digging down, you can check out the various demos available on Internet about vocoders. Their applications ranges from mobile communication to Sci-Fi movies and further down to music studios.For those who don't know about vocoders, they need not know as it's Signal processing specific thing. which is not useful in their daily lives.. And those who know, it's gonna sound kind of out of box thinking for a new dimension with their engineering expertise.

Now ...monthly update from entertainment side of my life :)
1.  "By the way, on the way....",this song caught my attention this month... I figured out that I have heard this voice before. It was one of the Viva girl Anushka, nice to see her back in bollywood playbacks ( after Golmaal, which was an OK sort of song ).

2. Peepli live music looks to be good, Indian Ocean ( Jhini Jhini fame ) has reused its one song Des Mera Rangrej ...but Udaan music is better....atleast in my opinion.

3. Tere Bin Laden was a fresh and hilarious movie.
Well, I found Lamhaa also a hilarious watch, when Kunal Kapoor delivered speech in the movie :P

4. People say Inception is good, quite like Matrix....  Sri Sri Ravi Shankar told that Matrix is based on  a Hindu scripture, Yoga Vashista. Looks like west has got somewhere copy of this scripture :)

And yes, after Tere Bin Laden, I expect more humor from Dabang.
