Hogenakkal-The Niagra falls of India

Bonjour, It took me a while ...err.... 2 months to come back here..... Let me back track what are the incidents I went through. The latest movie I watched is Sita sings the blues, which has such funny dialogues that to remember the ancient style I had to see again the original Ramayana episode on Youtube.
Well, I have got back the book from B'lore to learn french....and if I don't overestimate my self I will write next blog in French. This was a nice trip to B'lore.... went to see Niagra falls of India, the place called is Hogenakkal, attaching the pic above. While coming back to Hyderabad from B'lore my bus took diff route and took extra charge because rains blocked the usual way, yes, that's what happens with me... murfy's law. The experience at Hogenakkal was awsome, you get some time to think rather than talk as waterfall sounds so loud. Then we took bath in Kaveri, which is known for medicinal cure. I really found my dandruff gone !! There some nice incidences happened.
Met my friends in B'lore after a year.... well one friend first time in my life as we have been L'internet friends :)
In the office it was feature release time and i got away finally with it. Now back on my research trek :)
I am thankful to all my Teachers at IITB who replied back to my wishes on Teacher's day. My guide remembers me....felt great to know that. Hoping things to settle as I want.
There are 2 more significant things I want to share right now....
One is that I found the proof that all square roots of square free numbers are linearly independent which was required to solve September's Ponder this puzzle at IBM website. And second thing is that I watched movie Wake Up Sid, which reminded me my fav movie DCH,, I observed they have even repeated some dialogues there. It was worth watchable once. well I also watched movies Golmaal, Golmaal Returns and All the Best by Rohit Shetty over this period.... all were good.
keep reading the blog for more.....ciao.

August Rush

This month things are happening very fast. Every week one movie review i am writing through my status message on gmail. Music wise 2 good albums Love Aaj Kal and Sikandar I got to hear. Specially Sikandar's music is what gives you a soothing feel. went for a night out with this music in office, just to revive the memories of IITB. Overall I am becoming witness of the things which I missed in the past. Some garbage search on Internet gave me that information which I wanted long back.Looking forward I hope to see some changes in my daily schedule. It's high time as far as my work is concerned....time to rethink what I want to accomplish....what I want to leave as past.
Overall my guess is that next month will reveal quite a few things.......Njoy ......hey! but don't miss the KK's upbeat version in Sikandar.

The two incidents.........

It's been around a month since my last post. Well, the official solution didn't have anything surprising, rather approach was more informal (I hate it) trying to show that solution doesn't involve permutation theory.
Around this month I became the witness of 2 incidences which I want to share on this blog.
I generally prefer auto rather than company cab to commute here because I get bored looking at same faces right from the morning. One eve I got a shared auto and the other passengers in auto were the son and wife of the driver and one more guy like me. The boy (son) was lying on the speakers like luggage. I guess the family was going to home.
One Muslim guy (can make out with his cap and lot of perfume) on the way calls for auto anticipating there will be seat behind and while driver was thinking what to do that lady just sat on the side bar of auto to make space for the new passenger. At the same time the muslim who realized her "sacrifice" asked for apology saying, "Khaamakha takleef di aapko". To some readers it might look obvious the way this incident happened, but I want to point out the Love and affection between the couple (where driver felt hesitant when his wife sat on the rod) and the humanity expressed by the Muslim guy who was almost like coming out after realizing her giving seat for him. In daily life I never expect such behavior by the people here.

A totally different incident happened was the mobile stealing in front of my eyes. 2 guys on motor cycle whom I suspected as the mobile stealers when I saw them first while coming from dinner were the real culprits. They were waiting for an opportunity and a group of boys just passed them walking on the road. They noticed that a boy has just taken out mobile and talking. They started their bike and went behind the boy, grabbed the mobile and increased the speed of bike. It was night 9 and there is very dull light around that area so you can't even note down number of the bike. Looks like these incidents are increasing in hyderabad and bangalore. 2 days ago it has happened with one of my friend and police refused to lodge FIR, reason being that the police will have to act up on the increasing number of cases. Somehow he made them write FIR. But this incidence makes me think why would the 2 guys do such an act ? Does it indicate some terrorist activity being framed out in the city ? or it is just the difference in prosperity of areas ? where we grow differently. (As the culprits ran towards Hafeezpet area which is not so prosper)

Ponder this for IBM

(1/14 + 1/24 + 1/40 + 1/80 + 1/48 + 1/64 + 1/64*6 + 1/144 + 1/192 + 1/192 + 1/144*16 + 1/128*6 + 1/32*48 + 1/4*32*120 + 1/128*620*7)

will be exactly equal to

(1/13 + 1/33 + 1/66 + 1/45 + 1/54 + 1/9*120 + 1/98 + 1/126 + 1/21*24 + 1/7*7! + 1/150 + 1/50*24 + 1/810 + 1/90*6 + 1/90*120 + 1/5*9! + 1/162*24 + 1/27*6*120 + 1/18*8! + 1/3*11! + 1/14! )

I had a strong feeling about it, but......

I got tired of calculating this sum even after 3-4 terms while solving this month's Ponder this challenge June 2009 at IBM's web page. This was forwarded by my very close friend Rama aka Ramky, and for solution we went in to deep discussion that night. Of course this discussion was sponsored by Nokia (connecting people)

I do agree with IBM people that it can be solved almost on the back of an envelope but for solving it based on human intuitions does need some checks and I was trying to attempt one of such checks above. Finally I had to go for induction to prove that our intuitions were on right track. Thankfully enough literature is available in form of theorems and problems for permutations which could be used here in solving this problem.

Anyways, my serious advice to you guys that if you are immersed in your work then don't try to attempt such problems. They will excite you with the dimensions they can take and others might find you out of this world !! Injurious for your love line until your love also loves it :)

Anyways...lets wait for the official release of the solution..... good night !!
